A section with nothing to show still appears in the theme editor, with a short message in place of its content, so you can find it and fill it. Customers see nothing in its place. Most sections that are missing on a store are empty in this way.
You can recognize this cause in the editor: the section shows one of these messages where its content should be.

"Add cards to display this section." or "Select a collection with products to display this section."

Blocks work the same way. An Image block without an image, a Button block without a label, a Menu block without a menu, and a Text block without text show in the editor only.
To fix it, select the section in the editor, fill in what its message asks for, and click Save.
Product details not connected
On a product page, the Facts, Specifications, Marquee, Highlights and Testimonials sections can show each product's own details, such as figures, specifications or customer quotes. A section with no details for a product hides on that product's page. Checkmate's default product page comes with these sections empty, so they are missing on every product page until you set them up:
Facts and Specifications start with no values connected.
Marquee starts with no text.
Highlights and Testimonials read lists of entries from the metafields custom.highlights and custom.reviews, and they have no blocks of their own. Until your products have these metafields, they show nothing.
You can recognize this cause when a section shows on one product and is missing on another, or is missing on every product. The Marquee section with no text is missing from the editor's preview as well.
Some sources need a product or a blog post on the page:
In Featured collection and Card rail, the Source choices Related to the product and Bought with the product show products only on a product page. On any other page the section hides. In the editor, a card rail there shows "Recommended products appear only on product pages."
In Blog posts, the Source choice Related posts shows posts only on a blog post page. On any other page, the editor shows "Related posts appear only on article pages."
You can recognize this cause when the section uses one of these sources and sits on another kind of page, such as the home page. To show products or posts there, select Collection or Blog under Source instead.
Another template on that page
A section belongs to one template, the layout that a group of pages shares, such as Default product. It shows only on the pages that use that template. If you created another product template, the products assigned to it show that template's sections, not the ones you edited.
You can recognize this cause when the section shows on some products or pages and is missing on others with the same details. To check, open the product or page in your Shopify admin and look at its Theme template. Then edit that template in the editor: at the top of the editor, select Products, then the template's name.
Hidden in the editor
A hidden section stays in the editor sidebar, where you can still change its settings, but it shows neither in the editor's preview nor on your store. You can recognize this cause when the section is listed in the sidebar and you can't find it in the preview. To show it again, point at its name in the editor sidebar, click the eye icon next to the name, and click Save.
The trash and eye icons show only while the pointer is over the name. On a hidden section, the eye is crossed out.
