Show a collection without filters

Checkmate comes with a second layout for collection pages, the landing template. It shows the collection without the filter icon, for a short or hand-picked collection where filters would get in the way. You give it to each collection in your Shopify admin, and every other collection keeps the default layout.

The two templates differ in two settings of the Collection section:

Both show the sort menu, and both show the collection's image behind its title when the collection has one.

Give a collection the landing template

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Products > Collections.

2. Click the collection.

3. In the Theme template section, select landing.

4. Click Save.

The collection page now shows the sort menu and the product count without the filter icon.

Shopify's guide to templates has more on assigning a template. To bring the filters back, select Default collection in the same place.

Change the landing template

Changes to this template apply to every collection that uses it.

1. In your Shopify admin, go to Online Store.

2. Next to Checkmate, click Edit theme.

3. At the top of the editor, select Collections, then landing.

4. In the sidebar, click the Collection section.

5. Change the settings you want, such as Products per page.

6. Click Save.

To hide filters on every collection instead, turn off Enable filtering in the Collection section of the Default collection template.
