Checkmate shows a product's average rating and review count in the Testimonials section, as two large numbers with a star next to the rating. The theme does not draw a row of stars under the product title or on product cards. For that, add your reviews app's own widget, or show the rating as a bar.
Your reviews app needs to save each product's rating in Shopify's standard metafields Product rating (reviews.rating) and Product rating count (reviews.rating_count). Your app's documentation says whether it writes them. To check a product, open it in your Shopify admin and look for the two in its Metafields section. Shopify's guide to adding values to metafields explains where to find them.
Show the rating in Testimonials
The rating shows only with the Grid layout. In the Checkmate and Fang styles, the default product page uses Quote with the rating off, so change both. In the Lair style, it uses Grid with the rating on, so the rating already shows. A style is the starting look you picked when you added the theme, and Theme styles compares them.
At the top of the editor, select Products, then Default product.
Select the Testimonials section. If there is none, click Add section and select Testimonials.
Under Layout, select Grid. The Show product rating setting appears.
Turn on Show product rating.
Click Save.
Above the quotes, the section shows the average rating rounded to one decimal, such as 4.8, with a large star and the words "Average rating" to its right. To the right of that, the number of reviews shows with the word "Reviews". The star takes the Rating star color from Color settings. Any Statistic blocks in the section follow the two numbers.
A product without a rating shows no numbers. With a rating and no quotes, the section shows the numbers alone. To fill the section with quotes, see Show customer quotes on each product page.
Add the app's review widget
If your reviews app has an app block, you can place the app's stars, review list or form on the product page with it. The Product information section accepts app blocks among its own blocks, in the column next to the product photos. For a widget across the full width of the page, add a Section section, which is a section that holds any blocks, and add the app block to it.
Product cards have no stars. They can show the rating as a bar through the Metrics setting of the section that shows the cards, and the product page can show it as a bar through the Product metrics block. With Metric style in Theme settings > Product cards set to Dots, both show a row of dots instead of a bar. Enter reviews.rating | Rating in either. The bar fills by the rating out of the scale your app saves, with the rating to its right, such as 4.8/5. Show product ratings as bars or dots has the steps.
The round seal on product photos is a different thing. It shows a value you save on each product yourself, such as a score. Show a score seal on product cards explains it.
