The Group block holds other blocks and lays them out, stacked one above the other or side by side in one row. Use it to keep a heading, a paragraph and a button together, or to put two buttons next to each other. To add one, click Add block in a Section, Card rail, Contact form, Offcanvas drawer, Orbit, Share, Subscription or Video section, or inside another Group block or a Columns block, and select Column or Row under Layout. In the Footer section, the Centered layout comes with a Group block that holds its buttons. You cannot add a Group block to the footer itself.
Column starts the group with the blocks stacked. Row starts it with the blocks in a row, the first at the left edge and the last at the right edge. To add blocks to the group, click Add block under it in the editor sidebar. Any block that a section accepts can go inside, including another Group block.
Vertical, the default, stacks the blocks. Horizontal puts them side by side in one row. A row never wraps onto a second line. For many blocks, or for blocks of equal width, use the Columns block instead.
Stack vertically on mobile
Shows with Horizontal. On by default. On screens narrower than 768 px, the row becomes a stack. The blocks keep the left, center or right Alignment, and with Space between each one fills the width.
Alignment
Shows with Horizontal. Left, Center and Right put the blocks of the row together at that side. Space between puts the first block at the left edge, the last at the right edge, and spreads the others evenly between them.
Vertical alignment
Shows with Horizontal. Top, Center or Bottom lines up blocks of different heights by their top edges, their middles or their bottom edges. Center is the default.
Alignment
Shows with Vertical. Puts each block at the left, in the center or at the right of the group. Left is the default.
Gap
The space between the blocks, from None to 120 px. The Column and Row blocks start at None.
Width
How wide the group is. Text column keeps it to a centered column up to 864 px wide. Page width, the default, matches Page width in Layout settings. Full width runs from edge to edge of the section. Inside another Group or a Columns block, it never grows past the space it has there.
Padding
Padding top, Padding bottom, Padding left and Padding right add space inside the group, around its blocks, from None, the default, to 120 px. The space stays the same on every screen size.
The group has no background, border or color of its own, so padding shows only as empty space. To color the area behind the blocks, set a background on the section, as Section background settings describes.
