FAQ section

The FAQ section shows frequently asked questions with their answers. In its default style, each question is a row that customers click to open the answer under it, and a heading sits to the left of the questions. A support card under the questions can invite customers to contact you. To add one, click Add section in the editor and select one of the three FAQ presets. It works on any page, and Create an FAQ page shows how to give it a page of its own.

On a product page, the section can show questions that belong to that product before its own questions. Give each product its own questions shows how to set them up, and How each product gets its own content explains the idea.

Presets

The Add section list shows three presets. Each one is a starting point, and its settings can change it into any of the others.

What it does

Style

Accordion shows each question in a row with a plus button on its left. Clicking the row opens the answer under it. List shows every answer under its question, with no button. Numbered numbers the rows 01, 02 and so on, shows the questions in larger text, and puts the plus button at the end of each row. Cards puts each question and its answer on a light card with rounded corners. In Accordion and Numbered, a question without an answer shows as a plain row with no button.

Columns

How many columns the questions are split into, from 1 to 3. The default is 2. Questions run down the first column, then the second. With Cards, the cards fill each row from left to right. On narrower screens, the columns stack into one so that no column gets too narrow.

Heading position

Left puts the heading and its button in a column to the left of the questions, where they stay in view while customers scroll past the questions. Top puts them above the questions. On screens narrower than 1,000 px, the heading is always above. If the heading and the button are both empty, the questions take the full width.

Button label and Link

A link with an arrow under the heading. It shows only when both have a value.

List metafield

The product metafield that holds a product's own questions, as a namespace and key. The default is custom.faq. On a product page, the product's own questions show before the section's questions. A product without them shows only the section's questions. Other pages ignore it.

FAQ structured data

Describes the questions and answers to search engines, which can show them in search results. It is on by default. Keep it on in only one FAQ section per page. Questions without an answer are left out.

Motion

Dark moment, Rise on scroll and Chapter title are explained in Section motion settings.

Blocks

Block

What it shows

Question

One question and its answer. Open by default shows the answer when the page opens, and shows with Accordion and Numbered. A question block with an empty Question shows in the editor but not on your store.

Text

A paragraph across the full width of the questions, such as an introduction.

Support card

A light card with a heading, a paragraph and a button, across the full width of the questions. Its button shows only when Button label and Button link both have a value. A section holds one support card.

All the questions show as one group, at the place of the first Question block. A Text or Support card block placed between two questions shows after the whole group. To show a block before the questions, drag it above the first Question block.

In the editor, selecting a Question block opens its answer so you can see your changes.
