The Collection section shows a collection's products in a grid, with the collection's name above them and filters, sorting and page links around them. It is part of the collection templates, and it can't be added to other pages. To change it, select Collections, then Default collection at the top of the editor. Every collection that uses the template shows the same settings.
Checkmate also has a second collection template, landing, with this same section, filters turned off and 24 products per page. Show a collection without filters explains how to use it.
Layout
Alignment places the heading, the breadcrumbs and the description at the left, in the center or at the right. Padding top, Padding bottom, Margin top and Margin bottom set the space around the section. Section layout settings describes them.

What it does
Heading
Replaces the collection's name above the grid. Leave it empty to show each collection's own name. A heading you enter shows on every collection that uses this template.
Breadcrumbs
A trail of links, Home, then Collections, then the collection's name. Above heading is the default. Below heading puts it under the heading. Hidden removes it.

Setting
What it does
Products per page
How many products show before the page links, from 8 to 36. The default is 12.
Columns
How many cards sit in a row on a large screen, from 2 to 4. A card is never narrower than 256 px, so smaller screens show fewer cards in a row, and a phone shows one.
Category collections
A row of links to the collections you pick, under the heading. Each link shows the collection's product count, and the collection the customer is on is marked. Use it to let customers move between related collections, such as all your coffee collections.
Enable filtering
Shows a filter button above the grid, to the left of the sort menu. It opens a panel from the left side of the screen with the filters you set up in Shopify's Search & Discovery app. A number on the button counts the filters in use, and each filter in use shows above the grid with an x that removes it, followed by a Clear all link. The button shows only when the collection has filters to offer.
Enable sorting
Shows a menu above the grid with Shopify's sort orders, such as price and date.
Show collection image
Shows the collection's image as a wide banner behind the heading, with rounded corners and the heading in light text. It shows only for a collection that has an image in its page in your Shopify admin.
Show description
Shows the collection's description from your Shopify admin.
Description position
Top puts the description under the heading. Bottom puts it after the grid and the page links. Shows when Show description is on.
