Share section

The Share section is the window that opens when a customer clicks the share button on a product page or a blog post. It shows the product's photo, name and price over a round link for each network, and a field to copy the product's address. In the editor sidebar, it is the Share section under Overlays. Select it to open the window in the preview.

On the product page, the share button sits on the top right corner of the product photos, to the left of the wishlist button.

Share window open over a product page, with the product photo, title and price over four round links and the page link field with a copy button

Show share button in the Media block of the Product information section turns the share button on. The default product page has it on, and so does quick view. The Featured product section has the same setting in its own Buy buttons block, off by default. On a blog post, Show share button in the Article section adds a Share button to the line with the date and the author. It is on by default. For a post, the window shows the post's cover photo, its title, and the blog's name with the date.

On phones and tablets, the share button opens the device's own share menu instead of this window. That menu lists the apps the customer has installed. On those devices, the window opens only when there is no share menu.

Setting

What it does

Screen reader heading

A title that screen readers announce when the window opens. It does not show on the page.

Links label

Setting

What it does

Destination

Email, Facebook, X, Pinterest, WhatsApp, Telegram, LinkedIn, Reddit, Tumblr, Threads, Bluesky, or Custom for any other site. Email opens the customer's email app with the product's name as the subject and its address as the message. The others open the network's share page in a new tab.

View

Round (default) shows the network's icon in a round button. Icon shows a square button with the icon alone. Icon + label shows a wider button with the icon and the name.

Button style

Secondary (default) or Primary, the two button looks from Button settings. Shows when View is Icon or Icon + label.

Label

The network's name. It shows on the button with Icon + label, and screen readers read it with the other views. Leave it empty to use the network's name.

Share URL

The address of another site's share page. Shows when Destination is Custom. See the next heading.

Icon

The icon of a Custom link: Share (default), Arrow, Copy, Heart, Mail or Star. Shows when Destination is Custom.

Width

Under Layout. Text column, Page width (default) or Full width.

Custom share URL

For a site that is not in the list, enter its share address in Share URL with these codes where the product's details go:

  • [url] for the product's address

  • [title] for the product's name

  • [image] for the address of the product's main photo

For example, https://example.com/share?link=[url]&text=[title]. Look up the site's share address in its own help pages. A Custom block with an empty Share URL does not show in your store.

The section also accepts other theme blocks, such as a Text block, which sit in the grid with the share links.
