Marquee section

The Marquee section shows short phrases in very large letters that drift sideways across the screen without stopping. Merchants also call it scrolling text or a ticker. To add one, click Add section in the editor and select Marquee or Marquee tape. On a product page, the words can come from each product's own details.

Presets

The Marquee preset uses the Watermark style, with one band. Use it for a quiet brand line behind the next section.

The Marquee tape preset uses the Tape style, with two crossed bands. Use it for a short promotion in strong colors between two sections.

Setting

What it does

Style

Watermark shows one row of huge words in a color close to the page background. The next section moves up over the bottom of the words, so its heading sits on them. Tape shows two tilted bands that cross, described under this table.

Items

The phrases, one per line. The row repeats them until it fills the screen.

Second band items

The phrases for the second band, one per line. Shows when Style is Tape. Leave it empty to show one band. The second band drifts the other way.

Product metafield

A product metafield to read on a product page, written as namespace.key, such as custom.tasting_notes. Use a multi-line text metafield with one phrase per line. Its lines replace Items on that product's page.

Separator

Star puts a small star between the phrases. None shows the phrases with a space between them.

In the Tape style, the first band is in the text color with letters in the page color. The second uses the Accent gradient from Color settings.

The letters use the Display font from Typography settings, and show in capital letters when Uppercase headings is on there. The words drift at one speed, and there is no setting to change it. The row also slides a little to the side as the page scrolls. Visitors whose device is set to reduce motion see the words standing still.

Product pages

On a product page, a product that has the metafield named in Product metafield shows its own lines. A product without it shows Items. When Items is empty too, the section shows nothing, in the editor as well.

In the Checkmate style, the default product template has a Marquee with Items and Product metafield empty, so it stays hidden until you fill one. To create a metafield and fill it for each product, see Fill product sections with each product's details.

Layout

Margin top and Margin bottom add space above and below the marquee, from None to 120 px. The default is 120 px above and None below. Section layout settings explains how the sizes shrink on smaller screens.

Motion

Dark moment, Rise on scroll and Chapter title work as in every section. Section motion settings describes them.
