The free shipping message tells customers in the cart how much more they need to spend to get free shipping, such as "$12.00 from free ship!", with a small ring that fills as the cart grows. When the cart reaches your amount, the message changes to "Free shipping" with a truck icon.
Your store needs a free shipping rate for orders above your amount. The message only counts toward the amount. It doesn't change what customers pay at checkout. Shopify's guide to shipping zones and rates explains how to set up a rate with Offer free shipping and a minimum order amount, in Settings > Shipping and delivery.
Under Free shipping progress, turn on Show free shipping progress. Free shipping threshold appears under it.
In Free shipping threshold, enter the amount in your store's default currency, as a number without a currency sign, such as 50. Use the same amount as your shipping rate's minimum order amount.
Click Save.
While the cart drawer is open in the preview, it shows the message with the amount you entered.
The Checkmate and Fang theme styles come with the message already on, at 50 and 40. Change the amount to match your rate, or turn the message off. An amount of 0 hides the message.
Where the message shows
The message shows only when the cart has products.
In the cart drawer, it sits at the top, on the same line as the Cart heading, at the right edge.
On the cart page, it sits at the top of the order summary, above the Discount code and Order note rows.
What counts toward the amount
The message counts the cart's subtotal after discounts, before shipping and taxes. A discount code lowers the subtotal, so the amount left to spend goes up. Every product in the cart counts, gift wrap included.
Customers who shop in another currency see the amount left converted to their currency.
