The Video block shows a video in a rounded frame among a section's other blocks, such as under a heading. It plays a video you upload, a link to an MP4 file, or a YouTube or Vimeo video. To add one, click Add block in a Section, Card rail, Contact form, Offcanvas drawer, Orbit, Share, Subscription or Video section, or inside a Group block or Columns block, and select Video. To play a video across a whole section, behind its text, use the Video section instead.

Video file link
A link to an MP4 file, used only when Video is empty. For a file in Content > Files in your Shopify admin, copy its link there.
Video URL
A YouTube or Vimeo link, such as https://www.youtube.com/watch?v= followed by the video's code. Used only when Video and Video file link are empty.
Poster image
The photo in the frame before the video plays. Leave it empty to use an uploaded video's own preview. With Play button, a video from a file link, YouTube or Vimeo shows a plain gray frame until it plays, unless you add a poster.
Playback
Play button, the default, shows a round play button in the middle of the frame. Nothing loads until the visitor clicks it, and then the video plays with sound and its player's controls. Autoplay, muted plays the video in a loop, without sound, as soon as it loads. An uploaded or linked video gets a pause button in the bottom right corner, and a YouTube or Vimeo video plays with no controls.
Aspect ratio
The frame's shape. Natural, the default, follows the shape of an uploaded video and shows any other video at 16:9. Landscape is 16:9, Square is 1:1 and Portrait is 4:5. The video fills the frame, so its edges are cut off where the shapes differ. With Play button, the whole video shows once it plays, with black bars at its sides or top and bottom.
Width
How wide the frame is. Text column keeps it to a centered column up to 864 px wide. Page width, the default, matches Page width in Layout settings. Full width runs from edge to edge of the section. Inside a Group or Columns block, the frame never grows past the space it has there.
With Autoplay, muted, visitors whose device is set to reduce motion see the poster image in place of the video.
A Video block with no video shows nothing on your store. In the editor, it shows a placeholder drawing.
