Photo wall section

The Photo wall section shows columns of photos that scroll up or down without stopping, beside a heading and your social profile. Use it for a gallery of customer photos or your Instagram posts. The photos are ones you upload to the section, not a live feed. To add one, click Add section in the editor and select Photo wall.

The section is a panel with rounded corners, in a shade a little different from the page background. In dark mode, the panel turns dark with the rest of the page, as Choose light, dark or automatic color mode explains. On screens 1000 px and wider, the heading, the paragraph and the profile row sit on the left, and the photos fill the right half. The wall leans back and fades into the panel at its edges. On narrower screens, the photos run in a band under the heading.

The Photo wall preset comes with eight empty Image blocks. Until you add photos, each one shows as a plain tile, on your store as well as in the editor.

Layout

Width sets how wide the panel is. Text column is the narrowest. Page width, the default, follows Page width in Layout settings. Full width runs the panel almost to the edges of the screen, with a thin margin on both sides.

Margin top and Margin bottom add space above and below the panel, as Section layout settings explains. The section has no background settings, because the panel has its own color.

Content

Setting

What it does

Heading

Words you make bold start a second line.

Text

A short paragraph under the heading.

Profile photo

A round photo at the bottom of the panel, such as your logo.

Handle

Your account name, such as @yourstore, to the right of the profile photo.

Follower count

A line of small text under the handle, such as 12k followers.

The profile row shows when any of these three is filled. Without a Profile photo, it shows an empty circle in its place. The row links to the address in Instagram in Social media settings, and opens it in a new tab. With that address set, the profile photo grows and shows an arrow when the pointer is over it. Without it, the row is plain text. There is no setting for a link to another social network.

Scrolling

Setting

What it does

Columns

How many columns of photos, from 2 to 4. The default is 3. The photos go into the columns in turn: the first photo in the first column, the second in the second, and so on.

Scroll direction

Up moves every column up. Down moves every column down. Alternate per column, the default, moves the first and third columns up and the others down.

Loop duration

The seconds one column takes to scroll through its photos, from 10 to 120. The default is 45. A higher number is slower. Neighboring columns run a little faster or slower, so the wall never moves as one piece.

Visitors whose device is set to reduce motion see the wall standing still.

Motion

Dark moment, Rise on scroll and Chapter title work as in every section. Section motion settings describes them.

Image blocks

Each Image block holds one photo, up to 24 in the section. Photos are cropped to a portrait shape, 4 wide by 5 tall, around their center. Link makes the photo open that page when clicked, such as the post on Instagram. With no Image blocks, the wall disappears and the heading and the profile row take the full width of the panel.
