Newsletter form block

The Newsletter form block is an email field with a button, where customers sign up for your emails. Merchants also call it an email signup form. To add one, click Add block in a Section, Card rail, Contact form, Offcanvas drawer, Orbit, Share, Subscription or Video section, or inside a Group block or Columns block, and select Newsletter form. The Popup section accepts it too. The Footer section comes with its own Newsletter form block in a fixed place in the Image and link columns layout. You cannot add a Newsletter form block to the footer itself.

Each address that signs up is added to Customers in your Shopify admin, in the Email subscribers segment, with the tag newsletter, as Shopify's guide to email subscribers describes. Collect email signups covers where to place the form.

Setting

What it does

Email label

The hint inside the empty field, such as Email address. Screen readers read it as the field's name.

Submit label

The button's name. With Arrow, only screen readers read it. With Label, it shows on the button.

Button

Arrow, the default, shows a round button with an arrow inside the right end of the field. Label shows Submit label as words on a button filled with the accent gradient, inside the right end of the field.

Size

Large, the default, makes the field 60 px tall. Small makes it 52 px tall, for a drawer, a popup or the footer.

Notice text

A short line of small text under the field, such as a note about your privacy policy. It can hold links. Without Require agreement, it stays hidden until the customer clicks into the field or types an address. Leave it empty to hide it.

Require agreement

Shows when Notice text is filled in. Puts a checkbox to the left of the notice, and the form does not send until the customer ticks it. The notice then shows all the time.

Success message

Shows under the field, with a check mark, once an address has signed up.

Width

How wide the form is. Text column keeps it to a centered column up to 864 px wide. Page width, the default, matches Page width in Layout settings. Full width runs from edge to edge of the section.

Inside a Group or Columns block, the form never grows past the space it has there.

After a customer signs up

The page reloads and returns to the form, which shows Success message under the field. If the address is not valid, Shopify's error message shows there instead. When the form is in a popup or a drawer, the popup or drawer opens again so the customer sees the message.
