Checkmate comes with an about page template that tells your store's story in several sections, so your About us page looks like more than one block of text. You create the page in your Shopify admin, give it the about template, and then change the sections in the editor.
Sections in the about template
The template starts with the Page section, which shows the page's title and the content you write for the page in your Shopify admin. The sections under it depend on the style you installed, and can include these:
Timeline section: your story by year, on a row of entries that slides sideways as customers scroll.
Video section: a video with a heading and a paragraph over it.
Theme styles lists the sections each style starts with.
The sections come with sample text and without photos or a video. Replace the text with your own, and add your photos.
Create the page
In your Shopify admin, add a page under Online Store > Pages, such as "About us". In the page's Online store section, select about under Theme template, then save the page. Shopify's guides to creating pages and applying a template have each step.
What you write in the page's Content shows under the page title. You can leave it empty and tell your story in the sections.
Change the sections
The about template is shared by every page that uses it, so a change here shows on each of those pages.
At the top of the editor, select Pages, then about.
In the editor sidebar, select a section and replace its sample text with your own.
Repeat step 4 for each section, and choose a photo wherever the section has an image setting.
Click Save.
Two sections need more than text:
In the Timeline section, each entry is an Entry block with a Year, a short Text and an optional Image. Enter a longer paragraph in Full story, and customers can click the entry to read it in a popup. To show photos at the top of that popup, add Story photo blocks inside the entry.
In the Video section, choose your video under Background video. It plays muted, in a loop.
To add another section, such as an FAQ section, click Add section in the editor sidebar. To remove one you do not need, select it and click Remove section.
To show the page in your store's menu, add a link to it as Set up your store menus describes.
