Frequently asked questions

Before you buy

Can I try a theme before I buy it?

Yes. Click Try theme on the theme's page in the Shopify Theme Store, and the theme is added to your store as a draft with a Theme trial label. You can change its settings and content in the editor, and those changes stay when you buy it. You can't edit its code or publish it until you buy it. Install a theme on your store has the steps.

Is the demo store's content included?

No. The demo store's products, photos and logo are not part of the theme. Your products, collections, menus, pages and blog posts live in your Shopify admin, apart from the theme, so the theme shows your own content.

Which browsers does the theme support?

The current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox and Opera. If something looks wrong in one of them, contact support and say which browser you use.

Will the theme slow down my store?

Your store's speed depends on everything on it, not on the theme alone. Each app, image, video and other feature you add can change how fast your pages load. Shopify's guide to web performance shows how to measure your store's speed and improve it.

Licenses and refunds

Can I use the theme on a second store?

A theme is licensed to the store it was bought for. To use it on another store, buy it again for that store. If you close the store you bought it for, you can move the theme to a new store you own. Your theme license lists the conditions.

Are theme purchases refundable?

Theme purchases are final sale under Shopify's refund policy, and the theme developer can't issue refunds. Shopify Support handles the one exception, moving a theme between two stores you own. Try the theme on your store before you buy it to make sure it fits.

Updates

Do updates cost anything?

No. Every licensed store gets new versions of the theme at no extra cost, through the Shopify admin. A new version is added as a draft copy of your theme, and your live store doesn't change until you publish it. Update your theme to a new version has the steps.

Do my settings carry over to a new version?

Yes. The new version keeps your theme settings, your sections and blocks with their content, the templates you created, your app embeds, and wording you changed with Edit default theme content.

What happens to my code edits in an update?

Code edits that don't conflict with the new version are included in the updated copy. If they conflict, Shopify leaves them out, and you copy them into the new version yourself. Save a copy of each file you changed before you update. Edit your theme's code explains how to keep code edits safe.

Support

Which stores get support?

Support is open to every store with a license for a Checkout Beast theme from the Shopify Theme Store, for as long as it holds that license. A theme used on a store without a license gets no support or updates.

What does support cover?

Support answers questions about how the theme works, helps with its settings, and fixes bugs in the theme. It doesn't cover custom code changes, third-party apps, design changes beyond what the theme settings offer, or Shopify settings such as checkout, payments, shipping and taxes. Support policy says who helps with each of those.

How fast does support reply?

Support replies within 2 business days. You can reach it by live chat or email from the Checkout Beast contact page, or at support@checkoutbeast.com. Contact support lists what to include so support can answer in its first reply.

Your store and the theme

Can my store show other languages?

Yes. You add each language in your Shopify admin and translate your content with Shopify's Translate & Adapt app. The theme's own text, such as button labels, comes translated into each language the theme ships with, and you change it in the same app as your products. Translate your store has the steps.

Does the theme work with apps?

Apps add their features to your storefront through an app block that you place in the theme editor, or an app embed that you turn on there. Setting up, fixing or integrating an app is the app developer's job, so contact them about it. What the theme controls and what Shopify controls explains where app features live.

Where do I change the checkout?

In your Shopify admin, not in the theme. Checkout has its own editor under Settings > Checkout, where you set its logo and colors. Payments, shipping and taxes are Shopify settings too, so Shopify Support answers questions about them. What the theme controls and what Shopify controls lists where each one is set.
